Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (“CSN”) hereby informs its shareholders and the public in general that, pursuant to the Material Fact published on December 18, 2009, it has presented to the Portuguese Securities and Exchange Commission (Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários) a request for the registration of the Public Offer for the Acquisition of CIMPOR – Cimentos de Portugal, SGPS, S.A.
The request is currently awaiting analysis and approval in accordance with the applicable legislation.
